||Project title: Development of Molecular Plant Disease Diagnostics for Verticillium Wilt of Potato and Soy Bean Cyst Nematode
Project description: The student is to work under the supervision of graduate students and Senior Technician to collect soil from farm fields, extract the plant pathogenic fungus, Verticillium and plant parasitic nematodes from soil and plant material, and examine extractions under a microscope for the disease agents. Some molecular work in terms of DNA extraction, PCR assays, and gel electrophoresis may be required.

Salary: according to program year and Agriculture Faculty pay schedule
||Punctual, responsible, hard working, able to focus, work in teams and independently. Good attitude and willingness and desire to learn is extremely important.
Driving of laboratory vehicles to field sites for soil and plant sampling may be required. Some out of Province travel may be required to sample across the Prairies.
